About City

About City:
Rome is the capital city and a special commune of Italy , as well as the capital of the Lazio region. The city has been a major human settlement for almost three millennia. With 2,860,009 residents in 1,285 km2 (496.1 sq. mi) it is also the country's most populated commune. It is the third most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. It is the centre of the Metropolitan City of Rome, which has a population of 4,355,725 residents, thus making it the most populous metropolitan city in Italy.
Rome was the 11th most visited city in the world with 10.1 million tourists, the third most visited in the European Union, and the most popular tourist destination in Italy. Its historic centre is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Host city for the 1960 Summer Olympics, Rome is also the seat of several specialised agencies of the United Nations, such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The city also hosts the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean  as well as the headquarters of many international business companies such as Eni, Enel, TIM, Leonardo S.p.A., and national and international banks such as Unicredit and BNL. The presence of renowned international brands in the city have made Rome an important centre of fashion and design, and the Cinecittà Studios have been the set of many Academy Award–winning movies.

How to reach Rome:
The main airport is Leonardo da Vinci in Fiumicino, about 30 kilometres southwest of the city. The other airport is Ciampino, where most domestic, and some international flights arrive. It lies about 15 kilometres southeast of the city. A number of airlines connect India to Rome – from Air India and Air France to British Airways and Lufthansa, you can choose a carrier based upon your budget and convenience.
You can easily get a bus from the airport that will drop you to a stop close to your hotel or the central station in less than an hour. The buses are comfortable and cheaper than taxis. There’s also the Leonardo Express train that will take you from the airport into the main city. Stop by at the Information Centre and ask for the stop closest to your destination.

Weather condition duting November:
Rome always has many exhibitions going on at any given time and November, especially later in the second part of the month when the weather turns colder, is a great time for museum going.
The Eternal City is a glorious place to visit all year round. Most would agree that the best time to visit Rome is September to November and April to May when the crowds are fewer, days are bright and sunny, and evenings are crisp and cool, usually only requiring a light jacket.
